Raffaele Manni, M.D., born in 1953, degree in Medicine in 1977, specialization in Neurology in 1981 and in Clinical Neurophysiology in 1985 at the University of Pavia. He set up a Sleep Laboratory at the National Institute of Neurology C. Mondino Foundation in the mid-eighties and he has then been running the Unit of Sleep Medicine and Epilepsy of this Institute since 2002.He is engaged in several educational activities in the field of sleep and epilepsy, as professor per contract at University of Pavia, teacher at Sleep Medicine Master of the University Alma Mater of Bologna and VIREPA e-learning courses of the International League against Epilepsy.
Raffaele Manni served as counsellor and secretary of the Italian Association of Sleep Medicine (AIMS) where he serves now as probo viro. He served as member of the ESRS Scientific Committee from 2010 to 2014. He is Author of 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals and of several book chapters.
His research is focused on investigation of clinical and pathophysiological aspects of insomnia, circadian disorders, parasomnias and hypersomnias and of sleep disorders and circadian dysfunction in neurological diseases, namely epilepsy, headache, Parkinson disease and dementia.
