March 20

The European Sleep Research Society (ESRS) and the Sleep Research Society (SRS) are pleased to present the Spring Edition of our Joint Quarterly Seminar Series, focusing on recent developments in circadian rhythm science. To mark the March Equinox, this virtual event on 20 March 2025 will feature two distinguished speakers:

  • Dr. Phyllis Zee (US):
    •  “Circadian Medicine: Insights from the Clinic”

This lecture explores the role of circadian clocks in health and disease, emphasising how circadian science can be applied in clinical settings. It highlights real-world case studies, emerging circadian-based strategies (light exposure, meal timing) to improve patient outcomes, and their implication for personalised medicine.

  • Prof. Dr. Martha Merrow (DE)
    • :”The concept of circadian organisation”

The key to effective Circadian Medicine Circadian clocks operate in each cell yet have specific characteristics depending on where they are expressed. Understanding how cellular clocks orchestrate a cohesive organismal circadian system would tremendously improve clinical perspectives.

This seminar will explore key insights into circadian rhythms and their significance for both research and clinical practice. Researchers, clinicians, students, and all those with an interest in sleep and circadian biology are invited to join this session.

We encourage participants to take an active role in the discussion. Do you have questions about circadian rhythms? You can submit them in advance here for Dr Zee and Dr Merrow, and they may be addressed during the seminar.
