SLEEP YOUNG: LA MEDICINA DEL SONNO NELLA FORMAZIONE DEL GIOVANE NEUROLOGO: TERZA EDIZIONE

Among the training objectives of the neurologist, sleep medicine is increasingly gaining ground in consideration of the numerous consequences that sleep disorders have in patients with neurological pathologies. It is increasingly demonstrated how sleep disorders can worsen neurological pathologies. It is also necessary to implement the knowledge of young specialists in neurology and doctors in specialist training in neurology also regarding this clinical and research field.
In these training days on sleep medicine topics will be discussed themes like: the physiological mechanisms of regulation of sleep, the sleep-wake rhythm, the subjective and the objective investigation methods of sleep disorders, the diagnostic analysis methods of the disorders of sleep, the clinical classification with the evaluation associated to the comorbidities (symptoms of depression and anxiety), the consequences that sleep disorders have on other neurological pathologies (for example epilepsy, neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and dementia, multiple sclerosis, migraine) and therapeutic indications.
The training will conclude with the presentation of clinical experiences of diagnosis and therapeutic management of sleep disorders that future young neurologists will have to face in their clinical and research activities.
