This Fellowship has the following aims:
- To offer the possibility to participate in ESRS or ESRS-endorsed meetings and courses taking place in Europe during the year when this call opens (i.e., the 2024 call for meetings and courses in 2024).
- Support career development and in particular support more junior candidates in the early stages of their career in sleep research,
- The Fellowships are available to scientists, investigators, clinicians, allied health professionals, and nurses.
A maximum amount of 500 EUR will be awarded.
A maximum of six grants per year will be financed.
Conditions:
- The grant sum awarded by the ESRS should support travel and accommodation costs.
- All candidates must be members of the ESRS at the time of application.
- Candidates must submit an abstract for presentation at the meeting.
- There is no upper age limit for eligibility; however, preference will be given to candidates who are in the early stages of their career.
- Funding is open to all nationalities and for European and non-European-based candidates.
- Applicants must not have been awarded any ESRS Meeting and Courses Fellowship Grant in the previous three years.
Requirements:
- A cover letter (max. 1 page) specifying the following: How will attendance at the meeting benefit your career and what learning goals do you pursue? and Why will this specific meeting be especially beneficial for you?
- Candidate’s CV (max. 2 pages).
- Candidate’s list of publications.
- Candidate’s passport or ID scan.
- Upon completion of the meeting, the successful candidates will be required to send a certificate of attendance at the meeting and a copy of the abstract presented at the meeting to the ESRS Secretary. Applicants with missing reports or reports evaluated as incomplete or unsatisfactory by the ESRS Scientific Committee or Executive Committee will be banned from applying for ESRS bursaries or grants for 5 years.

All application files should be submitted via the online application form only. All application documents except for the passport or ID scan must be submitted in a single PDF document. Applications can be submitted for all funding opportunities simultaneously.
The ESRS Scientific Committee will rank grant applications based on:
- Learning goals, as detailed in the cover letter.
- Candidate’s CV and publications, taking account of seniority.
In ranking applications, the ESRS Scientific Committee will strive to foster diversity in terms of age, gender, geographical distribution, and research topics.
