Sleep Europe 2024 Sustainable Travel Grants

The Early Career Network (ECN) are championing ESRS’ sustainability focused congress activities and are excited to announce the Sleep Europe 2024 Sustainable Travel Grants.
There will be 10 grants of up to 500 EUR each to support Sleep Europe participants who are making sustainable choices. Iif you plan to cycle, take the train, drive your electric vehicle, sail, carpool, share an apartment, etc. then this grant is for you. To increase the impact of these awards, they will also have a social media aspect where applicants are asked to share their #ESRSsustainable travel plans with their social networks to encourage others to make more sustainable choices in travelling to congresses.
Up to 10 grants of up to 500 Euros each will be awarded.
Eligibility Requirements
- All registered Sleep Europe 2024 participants are eligible regardless of career stage or geographic location.
- Travel by electric car, bus, ferry or train to Sleep Europe 2024.
- Incorporate human-powered travel (e.g., bicycle, sailboat) for part or all of your journey.
- Share accommodation (hotel room, apartment).
- Plan a vacation/annual leave before or after Sleep Europe without taking additional flights.
- Have an active account on at least one of the following; Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and be willing to share photos or videos of your journey to Sleep Europe in Seville, Spain using the hashtag #ESRSsustainable.
- Purchasing carbon offsets does not qualify you for this award which is intended to encourage change of travel behaviour.
- Should we receive more than 10 qualified applicants, preference will be given to individuals who are presenting an abstract as an oral or poster session at Sleep Europe. The final selection will be done by the ECN.
- Individuals who have received another travel grant from ESRS are not eligible to receive a second travel grant but are still encouraged to make sustainable travel choices.
Application Process
1. State your intention to travel sustainably by posting and uploading photos or videos on one or more social media platforms listed in the Qualification Criteria, following these steps:
- Step 1: Follow the ESRS accounts.
- Step 2: Share your sustainable travel plan through photos or videos on your Social Media Account(s). Be sure to tag #ESRSsustainable.
- Step 3: Mention in the post the ESRS account for the respective platform:
- @ESRS.eu (Facebook)
- @esrs_sleep (X)
- @european-sleep-research-society (LinkedIn)
- @esrs_sleep (Instagram)
2. Complete the application form below outlining your sustainable travel plans.
Post Guidelines:
Application Deadline: 15 August 2024
Your content must reflect your commitment to travelling sustainably to Sleep Europe 2024.
Include a short caption in the text part of the post that reflects what you want to show.
The content must be original.
Participants are responsible for ensuring no third-party rights are infringed upon (image rights or any other rights claimed by third parties).
By submitting content, participants accept these rules and declare they own all copyrights to the content and grant ESRS permission to use their content for promotional purposes.
The ECN Early Career Network will review the applications and select the awardees.
The awardees will be announced by 21 August 2024.
