CURRENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The sleep research lab at Klinikum Ingolstadt is closely connected to a 6-bed clinical sleep medicine facility at the same location. Research is focussed on basic human and clinical studies. Major areas are sleep and sleep disorders in psychiatric patients, insomnia, RLS and narcolepsy. The major areas of basic research are metabolic functions and immunoendocrine networks during sleep and waking in healthy people and patients with sleep disorders.
The sleep research lab is attached to the Centre of Mental Health, a 300 bed inpatient facility with a huge outpatient department. The Centre of Mental Health is a teaching hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. Long-term collaborations are established with the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, the Neurocentro della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Karls University at Prague, and Peking University.
The head of the sleep research lab, Thomas Pollmächer, is director of the Centre of Mental Health, deputy Medical Director of Klinikum Ingolstadt and Professor of Psychiatry at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. He has been president of the ESRS from 2004-2008.
