Dr. Anna B. Szabo is a Course Tutor at the Sir Jules Thorn Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. She holds an MSc in Neuroscience from the Université Paris-Saclay, France and a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Toulouse, France. During her translational PhD, Anna’s research focused on the underlying mechanisms and cognitive consequences of the sleep-predominant network hyperexcitability in Alzheimer’s disease, using methods ranging from polysomnography, neuroimaging and cognitive assessments in patients, to in vivo EEG coupled with behavioural and pharmacological tests in rodent models of amyloidosis. She continues to investigate this topic to better understand the link between sleep, network hyperexcitability and Alzheimer’s dementia.

She currently teaches postgraduate students on the Oxford Online Programme in Sleep Medicine at the University of Oxford. She is also passionate about science communication and volunteers as a science journalist in Hungary.
