Prof. Georgia Trakada graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens School of Medicine in Greece. She is a Pulmonologist specialised in Sleep Medicine, Professor at the Therapeutic Clinic, School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Director of the Postgraduate Program “Sleep Disorders – Laboratory and Clinical Sleep Medicine”. She specialized in the Unité des Troubles du Sommeil et de l’Eveil, Hôpital GUI DE CHAULIAC, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU), in Montpellier, France and in Sleep Research and Treatment Center, The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine, in Penn State University, USA, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. She has extensive teaching, research and clinical work. Her research focuses mainly on Sleep Disorders and Physiology of Breathing and is reflected in numerous conference presentations, scientific publications in international and Greek medical journals, as well as chapters in Greek and international medical books. She is the General Secretary of the Hellenic Society of Hypnology and Head of the Sleep Disorders Study Working Group of the Hellenic Thoracic Society. Her sleep laboratory participates in the multi-centre EU Project “European Sleep Apnea Database (ESADA)” and EU Horizon 2020 Project “Sleep Revolution”.
