Michaela Pawley
Michaela Pawley is a PhD researcher at the University of Warwick, UK. Her research focuses on the longitudinal association between sleep and self-harm during adolescence. The primary aim of this is to understand better the mechanisms that contribute to and underpin the relationship between sleep and self-harm. This is driven by her joint interests in research and clinical intervention work.
Michaela completed her BSc in Psychology at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), graduating in the top 5% of her cohort. Michaela obtained her MRes in Clinical Psychology at the University of Birmingham (UK), specialising in adolescent emotion regulation. In addition to this, Michaela works at a start-up (Nurture) as the Product Content Coordinator and has acted as the maternal sleep expert, drafting content to support pregnant people’s sleep and well-being. Furthermore, Michaela is also involved with the Midlands Sleep Group as the Newsletter Writer and is the Early Career Researcher Coordinator within the Lifespan Health and Wellbeing Group at the University of Warwick. Michaela was elected to join the European Sleep Research Society Early Career Network committee in 2024 during the Sleep Europe Congress in Seville
