Milagros (Mila) Merino Andreu (MMA) was born in Madrid (Spain). She is a graduate in Medicine and Surgery (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), specialist in Clinical Neurophysiology (Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid) and doctorate in Medicine (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid). She worked as  Médecin Attaché at the Federations des Pathologies du Sommeil (Hôpital Pitié-Salpêtrière, París).

Currently, Dr. Andreu is the Director of the Neurological Sleep Disorders Unit (Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid), Founder and Director of the Pediatric Sleep Unit (Hospital Universitario La Paz, Madrid) and Coordinator of the Sleep Medicine Program (Hospital Rúber Internacional, Madrid). She is accredited as expert in Sleep Disorders by the Spanish Committee for Sleep Medicine – CEAMS (Sleep Medicine Certification) and the (European Sleep Research Society-ESRS (European Somnologist Expert in Sleep Medicine).

She is a member of the research Group “Neurological Basis of Sleep and Sensory Processing” in the Research Institute La Paz-IdiPAZ.  She has participated in 24 projects about pediatric sleep medicine, a Neurological Basis of Sleep and Sensory Processing of IdiPAZ”. uthor of 36 original articles, 3 books and 88 conference communications and guest speaker at 186 conferences. MMA was recipient of research awards from the European Respiratory Society and Clinical Neurophisiology Spanish Society. She is reviewer of 8 journals, member of several editorial committees and thesis Director of  5 projects on sleep medicine.

Dr. Andreu is also a member of several Scientific Societies: Spanish Sleep Society – Sociedad Española de Sueño (President since October 2021), Pediatric Spanish Association – Asociación Española de Pediatría, Pediatric Neurology Spanish Society – Sociedad Española de Neurología Pediátrica, Neurology Spanish Society – Sociedad Española de Neurología , Clinical Neurophisiology Spanish Society – Sociedad Española de Neurofisiología Clínica, European Sleep Research Society and International Pediatric Sleep Association.

Her University teaching experience is: Teaching Clinical Collaborator (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and Tutor (Biomedical Engineering Grade, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid).
