Dr. Benedek works as an associate professor of paediatric otolaryngology and sleep medicine at two prestigious Hungarian institutions: Heim Pal National Paediatric Institute (Budapest, Hungary) and the University of Szeged (Szeged, Hungary). She is a board member of the Hungarian Sleep Society as treasurer and Representative of Hungary in the Council of the European Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO), as well as a member of the standing scientific committee of ESPO, council member of the Hungarian ENT Society.

She is also a member of both the International Paediatric Sleep Association (IPSA) and the European Sleep Research Society (ESRS). She leads the Sleep Laboratory and Sleep Surgery Department at Heim Pal National Paediatric Institute, which covers the full spectrum of paediatric sleep medicine. It is the largest paediatric sleep laboratory in Hungary. In her everyday practice, she works in a multidisciplinary team with paediatricians, paediatric ENT specialists, anaesthesiologists, orthodontists and psychologists.

Her main research interests include drug-induced sleep endoscopy, postoperative monitoring methods and new surgical approaches in paediatric sleep apnoea, the role and management of obesity in paediatric oSDB and memory and cognitive functions in patients with oSDB.

She is the first author of the latest International Paediatric Otolaryngology Group consensus on the diagnosis and management of paediatric obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome and one of the authors of the International Paediatric Otolaryngology Group consensus on scoring of paediatric Drug Induced Sleep Endoscopy.
