Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Spring has got off to an exceptional start. We hosted the seventh Sleep and Breathing Conference in Prague, Czechia. Jointly organised by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) and ESRS as the largest pan-European meeting of its kind, Sleep and Breathing offers an integrated approach to the investigation and treatment of sleep and breathing disorders. For the first time, it was offered as a hybrid conference. Onsite registration sold out days before the opening session and with over 1000 delegates, this was the largest meeting to date. More than 45 sessions including symposia, discussions, debates, and poster displays were recorded and are now available for registered delegates to view on demand.
On that note, I would like to draw your attention to ESRS's next big event, eSleep Europe, taking place from 4-6 October 2023. This will be an online exclusive congress, with over 25 topics spread across 6 non-parallel tracks, allowing attendees and presenters to join us from any part of the world without taking time off or booking any travel. The abstract submission deadline is fast approaching, and we encourage you to submit your abstract by 10 May 2023 for oral and poster presentations. The preliminary programme is online and updated in real-time. The best part is that we are offering free registration for all ESRS members as well as members of societies endorsing the congress, and full registration costs only 150 EUR.
I also take this opportunity to personally congratulate the recipients of the 2023 ESRS Grants, many of whom are in the early stages of their careers in sleep research and sleep medicine. We look forward to publishing their reports to share their experiences throughout the year.

Lastly, I invite you to push your colleagues who want to take a more active role in ESRS to apply for open positions on the Digital Communication Committee for 2023 – 2025. Don`t be discouraged by the committee's name, you do not have to be a part of this digital communications expert to be a part of this committee and it is a great way to get to know the society and influence new initiatives. Applications will only be accepted until 15 May.
Kind Regards,
Pierre-Hervé Luppi
