June 2025- Report- Digital and Communication Committee

The Digital and Communication Committee (DCC) continues to oversee the Society’s core outreach and engagement activities, supporting both internal coordination and external visibility across ESRS platforms. The committee currently consists of 13 active members and has recently welcomed two new representatives from the Early Career Network (ECN) and the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee (EDIC), strengthening integration across ESRS structures.

In the past year, new channels were introduced on Instagram and Bluesky to complement existing platforms, contributing to steady growth in audience engagement. On LinkedIn, the ESRS account recorded a 47% year-on-year increase in followers. Established content formats, such as Member Spotlights and #MondayReadings, continue to perform well, while new features including a Meet the Lab series and topic-specific highlights are in preparation, developed in collaboration with ECN, EduComm, and other committees. Infographics introducing ESRS projects and committees are also currently under development.

The DCC continues to contribute to the organisation of ESRS webinars. The most recent edition of the joint seminar series with the Sleep Research Society (SRS) -Spring Edition- received highly positive feedback, with participant satisfaction averaging 4.9 out of 5.

A key focus remains on the ongoing optimisation of the ESRS website. Following an initial audit, improvements have been made to the structure and tagging of key resources (including the Sleep Science Friday (SSF) archive), and congress-related pages are currently being refined. Plans for visual design updates and SEO improvements are also under consideration for the next development phase.
