Paediatric Sleep Network (PSN)

ESRS Paediatric Network (PSN) - Promoting Pediatric Sleep

Sleep Europe 2022 hosted the first pediatric sleep network event. It was the first step towards visibility and connectivity across Europe. By targeting European clinicians and researchers that share the goal to deliver optimal care for children, we believe that a good source of valuable contacts is fundamental.

A child is a starting point of an entire network, such as the (newly formed) home, the school, the extracurricular activities setting, the neighborhood, the culture, and the country but also the generation. As such a multitude of (non-)professionals are involved. A successful path to adulthood furthermore involves transdisciplinary approaches. In the context of pediatric sleep in Europe, this network builds our relationships and identifies our prospects.

As such, and in line with the main aims of the ESRS society, the Network of European Pediatric Sleep professionals aims at promoting and improving sleep health care for children within the niche in which the child develops.

Goals and Values

The Paediatric Sleep Network proposes to:

Promote the field of pediatric sleep.
  • In our 27 European countries, we strive to improve our connectivity. Therefore, our objective is to establish a registry of European clinicians and researchers or centers involved in pediatric sleep.
Undertake appropriate measures to offer high-quality sleep health care to children and families:
  • Support and facilitate the training of professionals, clinicians, and researchers in pediatric sleep.
  • Develop pediatric sleep guidelines respecting our rich cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Protect and improve the quality of practice parameters.
Achieve sustainable development goals for the field of pediatric sleep:
  • Support basic and applied research in all areas of pediatric sleep health care.
  • Support the identification, creation and modification of pediatric sleep tools (e.g., questionnaires, scoring algorithms, technology, etc.).
  • Encourage the development of effective sleep health care for sleep issues applicable across childhood ages and developmental stages.
  • Advocate and contribute to the digitalisation of patient or participant databases, shared digital knowledge.
Enhance scientific and technological progress.
Offer a European platform to disseminate pediatric sleep knowledge to societal policies and the public.
Advocate the pediatric sleep endeavors by other (inter)national pediatric sleep organisations.
The Paediatric Network is proud to anounce the 1st ESRS Paediatric Sleep School coming in 2024
