APPLY TO BECOME A SLEEP EUROPE 2026 VOLUNTEER

The success of the Sleep Europe congress has always depended on the contributions of volunteers, from the scientific committee to the speakers and all of the committees and networks and supporting societies who work to make the congress the place to be for sleep in Europe.

We are looking for volunteers to support Sleep Europe 2026 onsite as hosts or hostesses.

Volunteer Roles

  • Volunteer hosts and hostesses help by supporting various congress roles onsite from greeting conference participants at registration, supporting various activities within Scientific sessions, and performing other crucial tasks. 

  • Volunteers are expected to support the congress for 4.5 hours daily from 20-23 October 2026. All volunteers must attend a mandatory training meeting at the venue on 19 October 2026.

Volunteer Benefits

For the time they dedicate to Sleep Europe, volunteers will be provided with:

  • Free onsite access to congress sessions when not on duty,
  • Lunch each day when on-site during lunch hours,
  • Free ESRS membership for 2027.

Eligibility

To apply, volunteers must:

  • Be 18 years or older by 1 June, 2026
  • Be available and onsite for at least 4.5 consecutive hours per day during the conference (20-23 October 2026
  • Be available for the mandatory kick-off meeting and venue walkthrough on 19 October 2026.
  • Read and accept the ESRS Sleep Europe Volunteer Policy.

Travel to the Netherlands

Before submitting your volunteer application, please check your eligibility and visa requirements to travel to the Netherlands.

Entry requirements depend on your nationality.

Please note that it is the sole responsibility of each volunteer to make their own visa, accommodation and travel arrangements. The ESRS is unable to provide financial support to volunteers. No travel reimbursements will be made for volunteers.

Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed as they are received with the aim of confirming all volunteers by the end of July.
  • If there are more applicants than places, priority will be given to applicants residing in the Netherlands to foster local engagement.
  • All applications must be submitted using the form on the ESRS website. Applications via email are not accepted.
  • The selection of volunteers is made at the sole discretion of ESRS and its PCO, Congrex. ESRS will share the volunteers` names and contact information (email and phone number) with Congrex to facilitate the organisation of the volunteers onsite.
