REGISTER for the upcoming ESRS webinar “Sleep Centre Accreditation: New ESRS Guidelines”, on 7 June 2024, 12:30 – 13:30 CEST.Â
The evolution of sleep medicine over the past two decades has prompted the ESRS to develop new accreditation guidelines for sleep centres, replacing those established in 2006. Our webinar will explore the rationale behind updating accreditation guidelines, the overall structure of the new system, and the details of the new accreditation levels.
Moderated by ESRS SMC accreditation lead, Dr. Sarah Hartley, the webinar will feature a panel of experts addressing key topics:
Why change? Evolution of sleep medicine from 2006 to the present day – Prof. Dr. Dirk Pevernagie will discuss the evolution of sleep medicine and its impact on guideline development.
Overall structure of the changes – Prof. Dr. Thomas Penzel will explore developing the new guidelines and the concept of levels to describe clinical sleep practice activities in hospital and in the ambulatory setting.
Details of criteria for each level – Prof. Dr. Johan Verbraecken will present the criteria for each level of clinical sleep practice, ranging from level 1 (university-based centers with a strong role in research and education) to level 4 (individual practitioners using respiratory monitoring to manage sleep apnea).
We will conclude with a discussion on the implementation of the guidelines by individual sleep societies, followed by a Q&A session with the panel.
