Laboratory Description:

The Helsinki Sleep Clinic has two floors including five bedrooms equipped with telemetric Somnomedics digital devices (DOMINO software). Infrared video is used. Other equipments include Cambridge Neurotech and Somnowatch actigraphies and continuous blood pressure and HRV measurements. The Finnish Narcolepsy Research Centre is situated at the Clinic and we are coordinating the narcolepsy NARPA studies in a Finnish-Swedish consortium. Other members of the consortium include the Biomedicum and Haartman institutes of the Helsinki University, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), and the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. The research areas include: narcolepsy, sleep apnea, restless legs, RBD, epidemiological sleep research together with the Finnish Twin Registry and molecular biological studies together with the researcher at THL.
