President's Message April 2024

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am excited to share the latest developments from the heart of ESRS. First and foremost, I am pleased to announce that we have received over 900 submitted abstracts and, due to such high demand, we have extended the deadline for abstract submissions to 18 April, 23:59 CEST.  We are proud to expand the tracks by adding a new Paediatrics track, in addition to Neurology, Basic Human, Basic Animal, Respiratory, Mental Health, and Public Health.

I want to take this chance to remind early career scientists to apply for the Early Career Scientists’ Symposium, a special platform for the presentations of excellent work during the Opening Session, via the abstract submission portal. The ESRS will once again offer abstract submitters a limited number of travel grants to support attendees requiring financial assistance, particularly individuals at the early stages of their career. This year, ESRS has also designated a number of grants to support sustainable travel. Please take note that applications must be made at the time of abstract submission. I encourage you to take advantage of this extension.

In tandem with this extension, we have released the preliminary Scientific Programme for Sleep Europe 2024. A special thanks to the Scientific Committee, members of the ESRS Board, symposia reviewers and those who worked meticulously to ensure a rich and diverse programme of knowledge and insight. Please continue to check the programme as we update it with additional educational content still to be confirmed.

We know you want to register and anticipate that registration for Sleep Europe 2024 will open in the coming weeks. As we await final approvals to go live, check our social media channels for updates regarding this eagerly anticipated announcement. In the meantime, check out the Master Classes being offered this year and be sure to book your place with registration.

Finally, we’re proud to announce the recipients for the 2024 Short-Term Research Fellowship, Two-Week Training Grant and Meetings & Courses Fellowship. The Examination Sub-Committee has also diligently selected the grant recipients for the 2024 Sleep Medicine Examination grant. Congratulations to all, I look forward to reading the reports of your experiences!

Kind regards,

Pierre-Hervé Luppi
ESRS President
