Application Deadline: 30 November 2023

The scope of the positions

Background

The main task of the Paediatric Subcommittee is to promote the field of paediatric sleep. As a new addition to the ESRS in 2022, the current goal is to improve connectivity by establishing a registry of European clinicians and researchers or centres involved in paediatric sleep. The complete mission encompasses the 5 main pillars listed here.

1.) To strive for high-quality sleep health care to children and adolescents and their families:

  • By supporting and facilitating the training of professionals, clinicians, and researchers in paediatric sleep;
  • By collaborating in development of paediatric sleep guidelines respecting our rich cultural and linguistic diversity;
  • By protecting and improving the quality of practice parameters in paediatric sleep medicine;
  • By standardising procedures for children and adolescents in accredited sleep centres.

2.) To achieve sustainable development goals for the field of pediatric sleep:

  • This network will support basic and applied research in all areas of pediatric sleep health care.
  • This network will support the identification, creation and modification of pediatric sleep tools (e.g., questionnaires, scoring algorithms, technology, etc.).
  • This network will encourage the development of effective sleep health care for sleep issues applicable across childhood ages and developmental stages.
  • This network will advocate and contribute to the digitalisation of patient or participant databases, shared digital knowledge.

3.) To enhance scientific and technological progress in the field of sleep medicine.

4.) To offer a European platform to disseminate paediatric sleep knowledge to societal policies and the public.

5.) To advocate the pediatric sleep endeavours by other (inter)national paediatric sleep organisations.

Tasks

The task of sub-committee members is to:

    • Participate in (virtual) meetings.
    • Propose new initiatives for ESRS education. Currently, the sub-committee is planning the first Paediatric Sleep School to be held in Bertinoro, Italy from 11-13 April 2024

Tenure

This new subcommittee is actively recruiting all ESRS members involved in paediatric sleep medicine. In an initial effort to better understand the skills and activities in this field which are already represented, we are offering open enrolment and will then recruit active members to work on specific projects accordingly.  Please do not hesitate to apply to join us at this stage.

Following the 2024 General Assembly to be held in Sleep Europe, we will put out a new call for a smaller number of active members.

Eligibility & Voting Procedure

The candidate:
